The Winter Burger

What do we usually eat in the Winter in the Netherlands! Mashed potato dishes with gravy. One of the ingredients we usually use for the mashed potatoes is kale. This time I used kale to make a Winter burger. I made little crispy kale chips and topped it on the burger. The results are good!

Ingredients:

– 2 fresh baked buns out of the oven
– 300 gram ground beef
– 3 big leafs of kale
– 1/2 lemon
– 1 garlic
– 2 tablespoon of mayonnaise
– 1/2 onion
– 1 teaspoon of mustard
– 1 teaspoon of ketchup
– 1 table spoon finely chopped parsley
– 6 shrimps
– 2 slices of cheese
– Handful of cut radicchio
– (Sea)salt & pepper

Prepare:

  1. Preheat the oven on 180 Celsius degrees.
  2. Cut the kale in little chunks and put it on top of a baking paper. Add a bit of olive oil on top and season it with sea-salt and pepper.
  3. Put the kale in the oven and bake it for 10 to 11 minutes. When you take it out of the oven, they will be turned into crispy chips.
  4. Bake your buns to perfection. Let them rest on a towel.
  5. Get a large bowl and mic the ground beef with onion, parsley, ketchup, mustard, salt and pepper. Let them rest a side.
  6. Heat up a little pan with olive oil. Add the garlic and shrimp. Cook till they are nice and red. Take them out of the pan and let them rest on a kitchen paper.
  7. Heat up a pan with olive oil and put the burgers in. Cook them at least 3 minutes each side on medium fire.
  8. Add a slice of cheese and cook for another 2 minutes on low fire.
  9. Time to built your burger.
  10. Mix the a little bit of lemon juice with the mayonnaise first.
  11. Then put a bit of the spread on your bun followed by radicchio.  The burger goes on top of the radicchio. Then the shrimp on top. Now get a hand of kale chips and just drop it on top of the burger.
  12. Done!
